Police identify vehicle suspected in fatal Takoma Park hit-and-run

Monday collision left one dead on University Boulevard East

Montgomery County police have identified the suspect vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred early Monday in the 1100 block of University Boulevard East in Takoma Park, according to a press statement Friday.

The vehicle is described as a black Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab pickup truck, possibly of a model year between 1999-2006, with possible minor damage to its left side due to the collision, according to the statement.

About 1:15 a.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the area of the 1100 block of University Boulevard East near Anne Street, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer wrote on social media Monday morning. The location is near the Mega Mart Latino Supermarket University Boulevard East.

The pedestrian was found on University Boulevard, suffering from head injuries. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, the police statement said.

Detectives determined that a westbound vehicle hit the pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, and fled the scene on Lebanon Street into Prince George’s County, according to the statement.

Police are working to identify the victim, who is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 150 pounds, with a short goatee. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt and dark blue sweatpants, the statement said.
