Montgomery County police are searching for a man suspected in connection with the May 22 alleged sexual assault of a teenager on a Ride On bus.
In a statement released Tuesday, detectives with the Child Exploitation Unit of the department’s Special Victims Investigations Division said they are “concerned there may be additional victims that have not contacted police.”
According to police, officers responded at about 8 p.m. May 22 to the bus turnaround at the Wheaton Metro station in 11000 block of Veirs Mill Road for a report of sexual assault that occurred on a Ride On bus.
The teenager who reported the assault said the suspect–a Black male about 6 feet tall and wearing a red Washington Nationals cap, gray shorts and a shirt with a Winnie the Pooh logo–exposed himself and touched the teen, the statement said.
Police said the suspect got off the bus at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and University Boulevard West.
The statement did not say which route the alleged assault occurred on or why detectives think there may be more victims.
Detectives ask anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website or to call 866-411-8477. Tips may remain anonymous, the statement said.
