A man died early Saturday after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County police.
In a statement Sunday, police identified the man as Brian Antonio Martinez Gamez, 28, of Silver Spring.
According to police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded shortly after midnight to the intersection of University Boulevard West and Kerwin Road for a report of a collision involving a white 2023 Tesla Model 3 and a black and green 2019 Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle.
Martinez Gamez, who was riding the Kawasaki, was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said. The driver of the Tesla remained at the location.
According to an investigation, the collision occurred as Martinez Gamez was traveling eastbound on University Boulevard West, approaching Kerwin Road, and the Tesla driver was turning left from northbound Kerwin Road to head westbound on University Boulevard West.
Martinez Gamez tried to avoid the Tesla before striking the driver’s side, the statement said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information about the collision to contact detectives at 240-773-6620.
