The Rockville Global Bites Fest is set to kick off the summer with a dining festival that starts June 22 with a one-day event at Rockville Town Square featuring dish tastings prepared by local restaurants and vendors, live performances, and interactive activities for children and adults.
Rockville Economic Development Inc. (REDI) is organizing the dining exhibition, which will run from June 22 through July 6. The June 22 in-person festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a press release. The town square will become a designated beverage district for the duration of the one-day festival, allowing visitors to purchase to-go alcoholic beverages from participating restaurants.
Festival organizers hope to promote Rockville’s abundance of cultural and ethnic diversity and boost the local economy and small businesses, the release said.
“This event not only highlights Rockville as an epicenter of culinary diversity and excellence but also drives traffic, attracts new customers, and boosts sales, contributing significantly to the vitality of our local food industry,” REDI board Chair Susan Prince said in the release.
From June 22 through July 6, participants in the Global Bites “Dining Days” initiative can receive special offers and deals at participating restaurants with the Rockville Rewards Digital Card.
From June 24 through 26 and from June 30 through July 2, participating restaurants will host “Foodie Function” days as part of the festival. These ticketed experiences will feature live cooking demonstrations, themed dinners, exclusive tastings, guest speakers and more, according to the release.
