City of Rockville police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Friday evening in downtown Rockville, according to authorities.
Police responded about 5:15 p.m. to 303 N. Washington St. where officers found a 78-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest, according to the police department and radio transmissions.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded and transported the injured man to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, according to radio transmissions. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and remains in good condition, the department said Friday night in a statement.
The suspect fled the scene of the incident, which occurred outside a local business, and a motive for the stabbing is unknown, police said. Investigators are seeking a suspect described as an African American male with a thin build wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, and a black mask.
