A man was stabbed early Thursday in downtown Bethesda after trying to intervene in the theft of a laptop from another victim, according to Montgomery County police.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing near Norfolk and Woodmont avenues after midnight, according to police radio transmissions and police spokesperson Shiera Goff.
Goff said that at approximately 12:28 a.m., an unknown man tried to steal a computer from a person in the 7800 block of Wisconsin Avenue. The suspect stabbed a man who attempted to intervene in the situation.
According to Goff, the suspect stole the computer and then dropped it as he was leaving the scene.
The report was called in just before midnight by a woman who said her boyfriend had been cut with a knife, according to police transmissions.
A responding officer requested emergency responders to attend to the stabbing victim, according to the transmissions.
“We have a pretty big gash on his forearm,” the officer told the dispatcher.
The stabbing victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Goff said.
Goff said the investigation in ongoing and no one has been taken into custody.
