70-year sentence for Silver Spring man who killed housemate in 2021

Andre Moore, 24, was sentenced on Friday to “70 years and five years of supervised probation upon release” for shooting and killing Michael Sutton, 40, in the Silver Spring residence they shared in January 2021. Moore used a “ghost gun,” according to Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy, to shoot Sutton after the two got into a verbal altercation. [WUSA9]

Four best restaurants in D.C. right now are in MoCo

Four Montgomery County eateries made The New York Time’s “The 25 Best Restaurants in Washington, D.C., Right Now” list. Rockville was home to three with Kuya Ja’s Lechon Belly (Filipino), Pupuseria Mamá Emilia (Salvadoran) and Z&Z Manoushe Bakery (Levantine) earning a spot. The mid-Atlantic seafood restaurant Crisfield in Silver Spring also made the cut. [New York Times]

MCPS students sell cars they’ve refurbished

Students at Thomas Edison High School of Technology in Silver Spring are realizing the final part of refurbishing cars–selling them. On Saturday, the cars, which have all passed Maryland state inspections, will be sold for between $2,800 to $8,995. [WTOP]
