Tyrone Curtis, 35, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday after he was found guilty of first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of a man on a Metrobus in April 2023. According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, Curtis was sentenced to life in prison with 15 years suspended and five years of probation after release.
State’s Attorney John McCarthy called the 15-year sentence “stunning.”
“It is inconsistent with the facts of the case and the verdict returned by the jury. Right now, our hearts are with the victim’s family,” McCarthy said. [Montgomery Community Media]
