A 46-year-old Laurel man was arrested Friday after he allegedly raped a juvenile victim in Rockville on Wednesday, and detectives are concerned there may be more victims, Montgomery County police said in a Tuesday statement.
Police determined that on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m., Charles Erby Jr. allegedly “lured the victim into a wooded area” at the 13000 block of Veirs Mills Road in the area of Parklawn Local Park and sexually assaulted them.
Charles Erby Jr. was charged with second-degree rape of a minor, and he is being held without bond in Washington, D.C., awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, the statement said.
In his extradition case, he is being represented by Karen Minor, who was unable to be reached for comment on Tuesday.
Police urge anyone who may have been a victim of Erby to call the county police’s Special Victims Division – Child Exploitation Unit at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solver of Montgomery County at 866-411-TIPS. Calls can be anonymous.
