Montgomery County police are searching for a person who allegedly burglarized the Southern Asian Seventh Day Adventist Church in Silver Spring last week, according to a statement released Tuesday.
The incident marked the second burglary at a county church in recent weeks. The Wheaton Community Church was vandalized and burglarized on March 12. County police Officer Carlos Cortes told MoCo360 on Tuesday that detectives don’t know if the incidents are related.
In the second incident, officers responded around 10:30 a.m. March 27 to the Southern Asian Seventh Day Adventist Church in the 2000 block of East Randolph Road for the report of a commercial burglary, police said.
An initial investigation revealed that around 3 a.m. that day, a man broke into the church, walked around and then left the building, according to police. Cortes said nothing was reported stolen from the church.
Police, who have released surveillance footage of a possible suspect, urge anyone with information about the incident to visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website at www.crimesolversmcmd.org and to click on the “www.p3tips.com” link at the top of the page or to call 866-411-8477.
