A man was stabbed in a residential area of Germantown early Tuesday morning, and a severed finger “unrelated to the victim” found nearby led police to search for a second victim, according to Montgomery County police radio communications.

Around 1:30 a.m., county police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) personnel responded to a call from a man at the area of Regents Park Drive and Notting Hill Way, saying that he had been injured, according to police dispatch.

Police found the victim had wounds to the stomach and was between houses in the area, yelling for help saying that he was dying, police said over the radio.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to a police press release sent later Tuesday morning.

Officers found a finger on the ground at the scene, leading them to believe there could be another victim and asking dispatchers to check area hospitals for walk-ins, according to radio communications.

Police later determined that the finger belonged to a suspect, a man being treated at an area hospital for stab wounds, Lauren Ivey, county police spokesperson, told MoCo360.

A woman with a handgun was also identified as a suspect and was taken into custody, according to the press release.
