Woman dies in two-car collision in Aspen Hill

Man suffers non-life-threatening injuries

A woman died and a man was injured after two vehicles collided Monday afternoon in Aspen Hill, according to Montgomery County police.

In a statement Monday night, police said officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service crews responded around 2:30 to a report of a two-car collision at the intersection of Layhill and Bell Pre roads.

According to an investigation, a Subaru and Tesla collided in the intersection. The female driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the male driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police did not identify the two drivers or say which car each victim was driving.

At 2:45 p.m., MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer posted on X about the crash, saying that two adults were trapped in their vehicles and needed to be extricated.

Piringer said both sustained trauma, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with less severe injuries. He said that some lanes were blocked as well.

Police said the crash investigation is continuing and the identity of the woman who died will be released after the next of kin has been notified.
