Montgomery County police are asking the public for help in the search for a suspect who attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl in Montgomery Village on Sunday.
Around 3 p.m., the girl was sitting outside an apartment building in the 18300 block of Lost Knife Road, when a man grabbed her arm and “told her to come with him,” police said Monday in a release. The victim said she believes the suspect ran away when he saw police cars, according to police.
Montgomery County police spokesperson Shiera Goff said Monday that there have not been any other attempted abductions in that area recently.
Police described the suspect as a 5-foot-10-inch man in his late teens to 20 years old, with a thin build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a black jacket over it, black cargo pants, sneakers and a ski mask.
Sixth District police officers, who cover the Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village areas, have increased patrols in the area, the police department said.
