About 55 firefighters responded to a house fire in South Kensington early Wednesday morning, and there were no injuries reported, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Around 5:40 a.m., MCFRS personnel responded to a single-family home at the 10200 block of Parkwood Drive off Knowles Avenue and found fire in the basement, Piringer said.

At 6:46 a.m., Piringer said on social media that the fire was extinguished without extension elsewhere and that the two adults, two children and a dog evacuated safely with no injuries.

Firefighters helped the residents safely retrieve personal items from the home, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced family, according to Piringer.

As of 9:20 a.m., Piringer said that he was not aware of what caused the fire.
