Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) announced a two-hour delay on Tuesday morning, declaring a code yellow.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter weather advisory for northwest Montgomery County until 1 p.m. Tuesday. NWS projects 2 to 4 inches of snow in the area and slippery road conditions.

Administrative offices will open on time, but buses will be delayed by two hours and full-day kindergarten will open late. Morning Head Start and morning prekindergarten are canceled, MCPS said.

Any field trips and other activities and programs that begin at 10:30 a.m. or earlier, including the Thomas Edison High School of Technology, are canceled, according to MCPS.

Childcare programs will operate as scheduled, but parents should still check with their provider to make sure, MCPS said.
