Here are the standouts from the week of Feb. 8:

Varsity Boys Basketball

Sekou Bangoura, a senior, led the way for the Magruder Colonels in their 70-54 win against the Richard Montgomery Rockets on Monday.

Bangoura scored 27 points, including 5 of 8 from three-point land, with five rebounds, three assists and one block.

Varsity Girls Basketball

Bullis junior Megan Yarnevich scored 17 points and 12 rebounds in the Bulldogs 69-33 victory against the Flint Hill Huskies of Oakton, Virginia on Tuesday. For this season, Yarnevich is averaging 11.3 points per game with a 76% field goal percentage, 12.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Ice Hockey

Ilhom Abdulaev of the Thomas S. Wootton ice hockey club earned a hat trick with three goals and two assists in the squad’s 9-1 win over Northwestern/Quince Orchard on Friday.

Varsity Wrestling

Blake junior captain James Zimmerman’s efforts in Tuesday’s win against Magruder with a pin. The victory propelled Blake to the Regional Semifinals Duals.
