The driver of a Toyota 4Runner was pronounced dead at the scene in Gaithersburg on Wednesday after his car left the road, struck several trees and overturned, Montgomery County Police announced in a news release. On Thursday, police revealed the man’s identity to be Mark Sampson, 48, from Gaithersburg.
Police said the cause of the collision, which occurred at 12:27 a.m. on the 11440 block of Turkey Foot Road, is under investigation.
According to the police, the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision. Anyone with information on the incident is asked by officials to call CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.
