At around 9:45 a.m. at the Silver Spring Metro station, display boards showed that a “switch problem” could be causing delays in both directions. Schedule boards that trains toward downtown Washington, D.C., and Glenmont were delayed, but continued arriving at around 6- to 10-minute intervals, as dozens as commuters and passengers stepped on board.

Metro tweeted at around 9:30 a.m. that “Metrorail service is back operating on or close to our expected train frequencies on all lines,” adding that “Delays remain possible en route” so commuters and passengers should prepare for possible longer travel times.
