A Silver Spring man has been charged with fatally shooting another man in Takoma Park on Friday evening, according to Takoma Park police.
Abraham Douglas, 21, is charged with killing Ahmadou Bamba Gueye, 23, of Takoma Park, police said Saturday in a press release.
Gueye was shot around 5:45 p.m. Friday in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue, police said in a press release Friday evening. He was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries.
Officers found Douglas on Friday night after he allegedly burglarized a home in the 600 block of Kennebec Avenue, also in Takoma Park, according to police.
Douglas was taken to a hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound, and was later released, police said. Police did not say how Douglas was shot. He was then charged with murder, burglary and firearms offenses, police said. He is being held without bond.
Court records for Douglas were not available Monday morning.
Police said they recovered a handgun and a 50-round drum magazine from the scene.
