A man has died after Montgomery County police say he apparently was shot in Germantown on Thursday.

Police got a call for a shooting near the intersection of Cinnamon Drive and Mustard Seed Court just after 9 p.m. Thursday, according to a press release.

Officers found a man with an “apparent gunshot wound,” police said. They tried to save his life before Fire & Rescue Service crew members took him to a hospital.

The man had been listed in critical condition, but later died of his injuries, police said Friday afternoon.

Police said the man was walking to his home when someone “approached in a vehicle” and shot him.

Police did not provide additional details about what happened or the circumstances that led to the shooting, and said they would identify the victim once his family is notified.

The area where the man was found is in a residential community near Gunner’s Branch Local Park and Clopper Mill Elementary School.

Thursday’s shooting is the fourth homicide recorded in Montgomery County this year. Last year, there were 35, according to police records.
