Santa Claus on a Harley will benefit The Children’s Inn at NIH
Santa Claus will ride a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in Montgomery County on Wednesday during the police department’s annual benefit for The Children’s Inn at NIH.
Officers will leave the 5th District Police Station at 20000 Aircraft Drive in Germantown at 3 p.m. and travel south on Md. 355 to The Children’s Inn in Bethesda. [Montgomery County police]

Homeowner sets house ablaze attempting to smoke out snake infestation
A homeowner in Dickerson got more than they bargained for after attempting to smoke out unwanted pests from their home.
According to investigators, on Nov. 23, the homeowner attempted to use smoke to control a snake infestation, but the coals used as a heat source got too close to combustible materials, and the house went up in flames. [WJLA]
