Missing Silver Spring 1-year-old girl found in New York City

A missing 1-year-old Silver Spring girl has been found after an organization called the Black and Missing Foundation shared a photo of her with her father — and a woman was able to identify the pair in New York City.

One-year-old Ziona Amaya disappeared from Montgomery County on Sunday along with her mother, who was found safe on Tuesday, police said. [NBC 4]

State Police trooper hit during traffic stop on I-270

A Maryland State Police trooper ended up in the hospital after being hit by a driver during a traffic stop on I-270 in Montgomery County early Wednesday morning.

Police say it happened just after 6 a.m. in Rockville, near the West Montgomery Avenue exit. [WDVM]

Maryland’s current statewide mask mandate in public schools is staying in place for now.
