More than 75% of all Montgomery County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and nearly 85% are at least partially vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC reports that 76.5% of residents have gotten both doses of a vaccine or the one-dose Johnson & Johnson shot, and that 84.6% have received one dose of a two-dose series.
Of the eligible population (people 12 and older), 90.2% are fully vaccinated and 99.6% are partially vaccinated, according to the CDC.
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services now reports a COVID-19 case rate of 61.48 per 100,000 people. The rate is down from about 95 cases per 100,000 people a month ago.
Through the first half of October, Montgomery County averaged about 100 new cases of COVID-19 each day. The county averaged 126.3 cases per day in September, 124.9 in August and 32.5 in July.
There have been 81,407 cases of COVID-19 and 1,645 confirmed deaths from the virus in Montgomery County since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
The test positivity rate has held steady at about 1.8% since the start of October.
Across Maryland, there have been 549,679 cases and 10,471 confirmed COVID-19 deaths.
