Chaia Tacos, a restaurant specializing in vegetarian tacos, is opening at 7237 Woodmont Ave. in downtown Bethesda on Tuesday.
Chaia serves tacos such as braised mushroom, roasted green eggplant and chipotle sweet hash. It also offers enchiladas and other items.
Suzanne Simon and Bettina Stern founded Chaia in 2013, first as a farmers market stand. It now has two brick-and-mortar restaurants in Washington, D.C.
Stern told Bethesda Beat in July that the restaurant has signed a one-year-lease for the property next to Landmark’s Bethesda Row Cinema. The Bethesda location will operate as a pop-up for a year, but might stay longer if things work out, Stern said at the time.
Chaia’s Bethesda location will offer a kids menu with items such as rice and beans, quesadillas and loaded sweet potato nachos, according to a press release.
Chaia will seat 20 inside and 12 on an outdoor patio, according to the press release. There will also be a taco window for people picking up their orders.
The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
