A Nigerian restaurant and a Spanish tapas restaurant are expected to open in Rockville Town Square by the end of the year, according to the landlord, Federal Realty Investment Trust.

Èkó House will be at 150 Gibbs St. and offer authentic Nigerian food, Federal Realty wrote in a press release.

The name Èkó comes from the local southwestern Nigerian dialect, Yoruba, and “refers to the vibrant and commercial capital city of Lagos,” the press release said.

Èkó’s menu will include Suya, a spicy meal with beef, lamb or chicken; Nigerian Jollof rice; and peppered soups.

There will be a rotating schedule of chefs and artists from Africa, according to Federal Realty.

The 6,500-square-foot restaurant will seat 250 and have a private room for events.

It will offer tapas, paellas, gambas al ajillo, and patatas bravas, along with beer, wine and sangria.

It will have seating for 60 people and open an outdoor patio space in the spring of 2022, the press release said.
