Lierman endorsed by numerous state, local leaders

Del. Brooke Lierman (D-Baltimore city), a candidate for state comptroller next year, was endorsed by more than two dozen members of Montgomery County’s state delegation and a dozen county officials at an event in Bethesda Tuesday. (A list of her endorsements is posted on her campaign website.)

Lierman, who grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Walt Whitman High School, is one of two Democrats to declare their candidacy for comptroller. The other is Tim Adams, the mayor of Bowie.

Harford County Executive Barry Glassman is the only Republican to declare for the race so far.

Comptroller Peter Franchot, a Montgomery County Democrat, is running for governor next year.

The comptroller is the state’s chief financial officer and responsible for collecting taxes across the state, along with auditing taxpayers statewide.
