KID Museum in Bethesda announces new officers
KID Museum in Bethesda has four new officers:
• Jacqueline Eyl, chief program officer
• Lisa O’Brien, chief advancement officer
• Kelly Chmielewski, managing director of marketing and communications
• Monica Goodwyn, managing director of people and culture.
Eyl was the director of youth education at the International Spy Museum, according to a press release. She will oversee the design and development of educational programs at KID Museum and work on its partnerships with organizations, schools, universities and other partners.
O’Brien was the executive director of the Scratch Foundation – a nonprofit that helps expand access to the digital programming language tool Scratch for children. She will lead KID Museum’s advancement strategy and also work on development, marketing and communications.
Chmielewski worked for 20 years at PBS and founded the brand consultancy The Possibility Shop. She will lead the marketing and communications strategy for KID Museum.
Goodwyn has 25 years of experience in executive leadership and human resources, and has worked at Bright MLS, the McGraw Hill Companies, ConvaTec and Aetna US Healthcare. She worked on issues related to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
The museum recently announced a major expansion and relocation in downtown Bethesda.
EagleBank appoints new chief operating officer
Bethesda-based EagleBank has appointed Joseph Clarke as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer, the company announced.
Clarke has more than two decades of banking experience, previously serving as the deputy chief operating officer of EagleBank since December, according to a press release. He has worked for EagleBank since 2008 in multiple roles.
Clarke will oversee banking operations, digital banking, community banking, residential lending and information technology, according to a press release.
EDC president named ‘Influential Marylander’
Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) President and CEO Ben Wu has been named to The Daily Record’s 2021 “Influential Marylanders” list.
The list honors leaders who have made “significant impacts in their field,” according to a press release from the MCEDC. There were 51 chosen this year.
Recipients will be honored in a virtual presentation on Thursday.
Bethesda-based airport assistance service launches at BWI
SkySquad, a startup company based in Bethesda that helps airplane passengers with their luggage, has launched at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the company announced.
SkySquad helps travelers with several elements of travel prior to boarding, according to a press release. Those include:
- Unloading luggage from vehicles
- Placing luggage on scales and tagging bags
- Navigating security checkpoints
- Getting to the correct gate.
SkySquad is also available at the D.C. region’s two other airports, Washington Dulles and Reagan National airports, according to a press release.
It is also offered at Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport and will soon launch at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
