A Derwood family was displaced when their home was destroyed in an early morning fire on Saturday.
About 85 firefighters responded to the fire at about 2:45 a.m. on Granby Court, according to Fire and Rescue Services Spokesman Pete Piringer. The residents of the home were not present when the fire started, Piringer wrote on Twitter.
The cause of the fire was not known as of Saturday morning, but Piringer estimated that the house was a “total loss” and uninhabitable. No injuries were reported.
The home was located in an area without fire hydrants, according to Piringer, so crews used several tankers that store water and hoses to supply water to fight the fire.
Firefighters remained on scene late Saturday morning to conduct an investigation and continue putting out “hot spots,” Piringer said.
