Dana Pauley named president and CEO of Leadership Montgomery
The nonprofit Leadership Montgomery has named Dana Pauley as its president and CEO, the organization announced earlier this week. Pauley has been serving as interim executive director since last year, when C. Marie Taylor stepped down from the organization.
Leadership Montgomery is an organization that provides training and education for community leaders in Montgomery County. Pauley completed Leadership Montgomery’s Emerging Leaders program in 2017, before serving as vice president of philanthropic investments the following year, according to a press release. In that role she oversaw marketing, membership, special and educational events.
Pauley also has 15 years of nonprofit and for-profit management experience prior to her work with leadership Montgomery, according to the press release
Economic development corporation awarding grants to nonprofits
The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation will award grants ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 to select local nonprofits to help them recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a press release, eligible nonprofits must have an initiative that fits into at least one of the following four categories
- Minority entrepreneurship
- STEM education
- Research and innovation development
- Small-scale manufacturing
Additionally, qualifying nonprofits must have annual revenues of between $50,000 and $2 million for the most recent fiscal year. The initiatives must have started no earlier than March 2020, and nonprofits must use their money before the end of 2021, according to the press release.
The MCEDC will also award a $100,000 grant and a $50,000 grant to programs that “best demonstrate a substantive impact on the Montgomery County economy” in at least one of the four priority areas, the press release states.
Money for the MCEDC’s grant program comes from $3.4 million in state funding set aside for Montgomery County nonprofits that is part of the RELIEF Act of 2021, which was passed by the state legislature and signed by Gov. Larry Hogan this year.
The MCEDC will start accepting applications at 10 a.m. on July 6, and the deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on July 16.
Progressions in North Bethesda named a top salon
Progressions salon spa store at 12211 Nebel St. in North Bethesda has been honored by the business publication Salon Today as one of its top 200 salons in the country. Bethesda’s Ira Ludwick Salon also made the list.
The Salon Today 200 includes salons that were honored for outstanding growth strategies in 2019 and successful strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, according to a press release.
