Shake Shack, the popular burger and milkshake chain that started in New York City, is adding a location at the food court in Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda.
On Wednesday, signs in the mall’s food court said the eatery would be “opening soon.”
Katie Scott, a spokeswoman for Shake Shack, confirmed in an email to Bethesda Beat on Thursday that the chain plans to add a location at the mall.
Shake Shack started 17 years ago as a kiosk in New York’s Madison Square Park, according to the website. It serves burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries and frozen custard, along with beer, wine and soft drinks.
Shake Shack has multiple locations throughout the greater Washington, D.C., area. In 2018, the chain expanded to Montgomery County in Potomac’s Cabin John Village shopping center.
The MoCo Show reported on Shake Shack’s expansion plans in the mall on Wednesday.
