Zao Stamina Ramen, a restaurant serving ramen noodle entrees, opened on Wednesday at 7345 Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Bethesda.
The restaurant’s menu features eight types of ramen entrees, such as Stamina (pork, scallions, poached egg and spices in broth), Tom Yum (chicken, coconut milk, lemongrass, scallions and chili in broth) and Vegan Miso (fried tofu, sauteed mushrooms, scallions, bean sprouts). The entrees are $13 to $15.
Customers can also add ingredients, such as pork, chicken, extra noodles and poached egg, to their ramen entrees for $2 to $4 extra.
Owner Myo Htun started working at a ramen shop in Tokyo 25 years ago, according to the restaurant’s website. Six years ago, he became a manager and operator at the Washington, D.C., ramen restaurant Chaplin’s.
Htun’s wife, Thida Naing, and son, Payesone Myatmon, are also chefs.
Htun told Bethesda Beat on Wednesday that the restaurant was busy around lunchtime. He said the restaurant can seat about 40 at full capacity. (Montgomery County will allow restaurants to serve at full capacity again starting Friday morning.)
Zao Stamina Ramen is open six days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
Carryout is also available. Customers can order delivery through Doordash.
