Mazza Gallerie sold, to be redeveloped under new owner

An affiliate of Tishman Speyer has acquired Mazza Gallerie in Friendship Heights and plans to redevelop the retail center as apartments.

The New York-based developer bought the 294,000-square-foot property at 5300 Wisconsin Ave. NW for $52 million, according to the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue. [Washington Business Journal]

Maryland not enforcing puppy mill law

A year and a half after Maryland banned pet stores from selling dogs and cats, Fox 5 has discovered that no one is enforcing the law.

At least three shops — Charm City Puppies in Columbia and Just Puppies in Rockville and Towson — are still selling dogs. [Fox 5]
