A fire at a North Potomac house on Sunday caused an estimated $1.2 million in damage, according to a fire official.

The fire happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the 14100 block of Saddle River Drive, which is off Dufief Mill Road.

Two residents in the two-story, single-family home got out on their own and were displaced, Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service, posted on Twitter.

No injuries were reported.

Piringer posted on Twitter that the cause of the fire was undetermined, but a witness reported that it started in a garage.

“Firefighters prevented a ‘well-advanced’ fire from extending and/or spreading to each of the neighbors’ houses,” other than heat damage, Piringer wrote in a tweet.

About 50 firefighters responded to the call.
