The driver of a vehicle on Interstate 270 was killed Friday in Gaithersburg after his car rolled over, he got out and was hit by another vehicle, Maryland State police said.

Around 9:18 p.m. Friday, the man’s vehicle rolled over on I-270 near the interchange with Clopper Road, police said in a press release.

The man got out of the vehicle, then was struck by another vehicle not involved in the initial crash, police said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police did not provide information about the driver as authorities try to notify his family.

Sgt. Tong of the Rockville Barrack, who declined to provide his first name, told Bethesda Beat Monday morning that the driver was a man, but no other information about him has been released.
