A 15-year-old boy skateboarding on Montrose Road was seriously injured on Friday night when he was struck by a car.
The boy was skateboarding near the intersection with Evelyn Drive in Rockville at about 10:10 p.m. when he was hit while attempting to cross the street, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Police Department.
The child, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police wrote.
He was hit by a 2012 Toyota Prius, driven by 47-year-old Najeem Amin Jan, of Dumfries, Virginia.
No additional details were available Monday morning.
The crash happened one block west of where a Walter Johnson High School student was seriously injured while crossing the street to board his school bus last year.
On Dec. 12, the 17-year-old student was crossing Montrose Road at Bargate Court when he was hit by a Jeep Renegade that did not stop for the bus’s outstretched stop signal.
He sustained serious injuries in the crash.
