Gyuzo Japanese BBQ, a restaurant that advertises “traditional Japanese barbecue with a modern twist,” opened over the weekend in Rockville Town Square.

Gyuzo specializes in yakiniku, or grilled meats. Customers cook the meat themselves using a small grill at the table.

The menu includes a variety of rice and noodle dishes, along with beef dishes such as Kalbi boneless short rib, sirloin, ribeye and filet mignon. Pork and poultry dishes include spicy pork belly and duck breast. These entrees are all in the $7 to $13 price range.

The menu also includes a special type of beef imported from Japan called A5 Wagyu. The menu advertises a short rib cut for $32 and a ribeye for $26.

The restaurant is at 33 Maryland Ave., Suite B. It held a soft opening on Saturday, the restaurant posted on its Facebook page.

Gyuzo offers limited online reservations for in-person dining, as well as takeout and delivery.
