Gordon Biersch in Rockville Town Square, a national restaurant and brewery chain, closed Sunday night, a spokesman at the restaurant confirmed Monday. Other locations in the Gordon Biersch chain also have shut down.

Michael Johnson, a restaurant employee, said in an interview that the Rockville restaurant closed Sunday after dinner service.

Gordon Biersch had been in Rockville Town Square for 13 years, he said.

Johnson did not elaborate on the reason for the closing, referring all questions to CraftWorks Holdings, which has offices in Tennessee and Colorado. CraftWorks Holdings representatives could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday.

Tuesday’s announcement about the bankruptcy says CraftWorks Holdings recently closed 37 of its underperforming locations. The bankruptcy filing is under Chapter 11, which allows for a reorganization of debt, according to a company press release.

Other Gordon Biersch restaurants closed at about the same time in Syracuse, N.Y.; Virginia Beach, Va.; and Baltimore. CraftWorks Holdings also closed Gordon Biersch and other restaurants in additional cities in the recent past.
