Audi Bethesda will move from its current downtown Bethesda location on Woodmont Avenue to the former Goodyear tire center at 7015 Arlington Road late next year, the dealership’s general manager said.

General Manger Dennis Duffy said in an interview Tuesday that the dealership owns the Arlington Road property. Goodyear, he said, left the site in August.

“Goodyear was just a rental tenant of ours. We allowed their lease to come to an end and then they moved on and we’re gonna move in,” Duffy said.

Duffy said the Goodyear building will be torn down to make way for a new building three times as big. He did not know the exact dimensions of the current or future building.

The new location will have more parking spaces, compared to six that are at the current dealership, which has a 12-car showroom.

Duffy said the 15 full-time employees will move to the new site, which he expects will be complete in October or November 2020. Sales will continue normally at the Woodmont Avenue location until then, he said.

The Audi dealer’s service center will remain at its current site on River Road after the new showroom is built, Duffy said.

He did not know how much the construction of the new showroom would cost.

Audi Bethesda is under the Euro MotorCars umbrella, which has a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Bethesda near the future site of the Audi dealership. The Mercedes-Benz dealership recently began reconstruction of its showroom.
