A Silver Spring man arrested Friday has been charged with sexually assaulting a Virginia girl he met on social media, police said.

Christopher Joseph Clark, 38, of the 1100 block of Fidler Lane, met the girl on a social media app and planned to meet her at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

He picked her up at her Virginia home and drove her back to his home in Silver Spring. Clark sexually assaulted the girl in his home, police said.

Police said the victim left Clark’s home and told her family, who contacted authorities. They obtained a warrant for Clark and arrested him in his home on Friday.

Clark is charged with second-degree rape and second-degree assault. He is scheduled to appear in district court Dec. 20 for a preliminary hearing, according to state court records.

Attorney information was not listed Monday.
