Quince Orchard High School Credit: Via MCPS

A threat against Quince Orchard High School this week was found to be not credible, school officials said Friday morning.

A letter sent Thursday evening by Principal Beth Thomas said a photo was posted on social media that “shows a weapon and includes a caption telling students not to come to school.”

Several community members notified school officials about the photo, Thomas wrote. MCPS notified Montgomery County police, who have begun an investigation. Additional security and police were at Quince Orchard on Friday “out of an abundance of caution.”

MCPS spokeswoman Gboyinde Onijala said police found the threat to be “not credible” and there is no danger to students or staff.

A Montgomery County police spokesman could not be reached for comment Friday.
