Golden Samovar, a sit-down restaurant serving Russian and Central Asian foods, announced Tuesday that it has closed in Rockville Town Square after more than three years.
The restaurant wrote on its Facebook page Tuesday that it was “saddened” to announce the closing due to a flood stemming from ongoing plumbing problems.
Solijon Nasimov, who formerly owned a tea house in Tajikistan’s capital of Dushanbe, opened the restaurant in 2016 at 201 N. Washington St. His daughter Ika told Bethesda Beat at the time that he sold the tea house following a civil war in his home country in the 1990s.
The restaurant wrote that it hoped to relocate in the coming months.
News of Golden Samovar’s closing was first reported by The Moco Show.
