A teacher at Col. Zadok Magruder High School in Rockville has been placed on administrative leave while authorities investigate allegations of “inappropriate conduct” with a Montgomery County Public Schools student, according to a letter sent to parents and guardians.

A letter from Principal Leroy C. Evans on Monday says law enforcement has requested that no other details be given publicly “to avoid prejudicing the ongoing investigation.”

Montgomery County Public Schools is “working with the student’s family,” the letter says.

The school system is working with the Montgomery County Police Department and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office as police investigate.

“We will provide an update to the community when we have additional information,” the letter says. “I want to assure you that the safety of our students is our top priority and we work every day to ensure that we maintain a safe learning environment for all.”

Asked for additional information, Capt. Tom Jordan, a spokesman for Montgomery County police, wrote in an email: “We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.”
