Updated: Man Charged with Killing Son-in-law

Victim, suspect both had gunshot wounds, police say

Montgomery County police have charged a man with killing his son-in-law in Montgomery Village Thursday night. Police said both men had been shot.

Michael Ewell, 57, is accused of fatally shooting his son-in-law Christopher Repp, 43,. Police said in a press release that the shooting happened Thursday just before 10 p.m. in the 10200 block of Wild Apple Circle. They said they are investigating the killing as a domestic-related homicide because the two men lived together.

According to police, officers received a call of a shooting at 9:58 p.m. and when they got to the home, they found both Repp and Ewell with gunshot wounds in an upstairs bedroom. Repp died at the scene. Ewell was taken to a hospital with what police described as serious but non-life threatening injuries.”

Ewell’s daughter was married to Repp, according to Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokeswoman. She declined to provide additional details about the circumstances of the shooting while the case is under investigation.

Ewell is charged with first-degree murder. Information about the case was not available in the state’s court database as of Friday afternoon.
