Elrich formally nominates Marcus Jones to serve as police chief
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich has formally nominated Acting Police Chief Marcus Jones to be the county’s police chief.

New Purple Line concrete problems include Bethesda shaft
Problems with concrete for the Purple Line were identified by the state for Purple Line Transit Partners in documents obtained by WTOP through a public records request.
Problems include multiple issues with concrete in the new Bethesda Metro entrance shaft, which will connect Wisconsin Avenue to the Purple Line platform and Metro platform using a deep elevator bank.
The problems are so significant that the concrete in place this summer was “considered defective” by the state. [WTOP]
Marylanders favor D.C. statehood, poll shows
A Washington Post poll shows Maryland residents narrowly favor statehood for the District, in contrast with national surveys showing most Americans are against making the city the 51st state.
The survey also shows that Marylanders widely oppose making the District a new county in Maryland, a proposal often offered as an alternative to statehood. [Washington Post]
