Bright Horizons anniversary party Friday Bethesda

The Bright Horizons at Democracy Center daycare will celebrate its one-year anniversary Friday afternoon with pizza and children’s activities. Natalie Newell, the center’s director, will talk about the center’s accomplishments and new programming.

The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m.

Writers Center workshop Saturday Bethesda

The Writer’s Center in Bethesda is holding an all-day workshop Saturday, in which more than 20 industry leaders discuss publishing, marketing, pitching articles and independent presses, among other topics.

Registration is $150 and participants can sign up here. The event runs from 8:15 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Mural festival Saturday Silver Spring 

Montgomery College and Denizens Brewing Company present the first-ever Shade Mural Festival at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring on Saturday. The festival will feature 12 to 15 mural and street artists. There will be music and beer.

The event is free and runs from noon to 10 p.m.

FutureFest – Sunday – Silver Spring

The KID Museum hosts FutureFest at the Silver Spring Civic Center, in which kids can interact with parts of a virtual city, including a black light garden, a street light garden, electric vehicles and a “high-tech” street. The festival also includes arts and cultural activities from countries around the world.

The event runs from noon to 5 p.m.
