MCPS highlighting safety efforts

In an email to families this week, MCPS recapped and highlighted safety measures it will have in place when students return to school on Tuesday, including school bus cameras and new guest sign-in systems. [ABC7]

New elementary school opening in Clarksburg

Snowden Farm Elementary School in Clarksburg will be the newest public school in Montgomery County when the school year begins next week. It will start with about 650 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Fifth grade will be added next year. [Montgomery County Media]

Montgomery County officials celebrate reopening of Brookeville bridge

What was once an old bridge with a single lane has now turned into a new and improved two-lane bridge on Gold Mine Road in Brookeville. County officials held a reopening ceremony on Thursday.

The bridge had been damaged in recent bouts of heavy rain. [WDVM]
