Ten candidates made the cut for the debate, according to NPR, but Delaney was not one of them. Those who made the debate are

Delaney, a former U.S. representative from Maryland’s 6th District, appeared in the first two debate rounds this summer, but under Democratic National Committee rules, candidates had to poll at 2% and have received contributions from 130,000 unique donors across 20 states to qualify for the third debate.

Delaney, in a press release Thursday morning, said he would stay in the campaign despite being disappointed about not making the cut for the September debate.

“While I’m disappointed to have not qualified for the third debate, I remain committed to the campaign for one simple reason: someone has to be consistently telling the truth and in doing so, telling a better story about the future we can share together,” he wrote.
