A Rockville man who is a registered sex offender was sentenced Wednesday to more than 11 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

Timothy Lawrence Day, 59, was sentenced by Judge Paula Xinis in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland to 135 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, a $20,000 fine and a $5,000 special assessment, according to a news release. The special assessment is used to fund the federal crime victims fund.

Day’s sentence comes after he pleaded guilty on May 2, 2017, to downloading images of girls “engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adult men,” according to a press release from the U.S. attorney’s office.

According to law enforcement officers, who executed search warrants in November 2018 and seized Day’s electronic devices, more than 600 images of child pornography were found.
