Five-car crash closes part of Beltway

A five-vehicle crashed closed a stretch of the Capital Beltway on Wednesday morning in Silver Spring.

The crash was reported on the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 at around 5:30 a.m. The Outer Loop was shut down between Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue. Heavier-than-usual traffic was expected through the morning rush hour. [FOX 5]

The principal at Walt Whitman High School is reminding students and parents of “plans to increase inclusiveness and tolerance” when school starts next week.

Robert Dodd said the school will be implementing a new program called OneWhitman.

“This program was developed by our staff and includes structures and activities that will allow school community members to build positive relationships and engage in conversations about challenging topics,” Dodd said in a statement. [WDVM]

Police investigating ‘serious’ pedestrian crash in Wheaton

Police say more information will be released Wednesday morning about a “serious pedestrian crash” near a police station in Wheaton.

Traffic was diverted on Randolph Road while a preliminary investigation was conducted. The crash occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday. [WDVM]
