Elrich to hold online chat session Monday
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will hold his monthly online chat session Monday, in which web users can ask him questions. Users can submit their questions by visiting the county’s website. Elrich will answer questions between noon and 1 p.m. A transcript of the conversation will be posted later.
School board to award boundary analysis contract Thursday
The Montgomery County Board of Education is slated to award a contract for its districtwide boundary analysis at its meeting Thursday, the first before the 2019-2020 school year begins Sept. 3. The meeting begins at noon, but the boundary analysis item is not scheduled until 4:10 p.m., according to the agenda. The meeting will be held at the board’s Rockville headquarters at 850 Hungerford Drive.
Jawando to hold fourth library listening session Thursday
Montgomery County Council member Will Jawando will hold his fourth community meeting as part of his “library listening tour” Wednesday evening at the Potomac Library. Jawando is seeking feedback from county residents about future programming they hope to see in their libraries. He intends to visit all 21 county libraries. Thursday’s forum begins at 7 p.m. at 10101 Glenolden Road.
County to commemorate opioid awareness day Thursday
Montgomery County will commemorate International Opioid Awareness Day Thursday with a vigil aimed at raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding drug addiction. The event, in the Executive Office Building cafeteria, is sponsored by several partners, including the county’s Department of Health and Human Services, circuit court’s adult drug court, the city of Rockville and the support group Surviving Our Ultimate Loss. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a resource fair and is at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville.
